BESTInfra 2017

Czech Technical University, September 21 - 22, 2017, Prague, Czech Republic

CONFERENCE SCOPE & INVITATION

The world is continuously on the move, the mobility is understood as one of key freedoms and as a crucial condition for the economic growth and social development. It is hard to imagine a sector more important for the everyday life of all the people than transport infrastructure. In the EU’s Europe 2020 growth strategy, under the flagship initiative “Resource Efficient Europe”, the need to “develop smart, upgraded and fully interconnected transport infrastructures” is defined as one of the main tasks for the member states within the following years.

The transport infrastructure structures are designed for many decades ahead, therefore our today’s decisions and outputs will affect several future generations. At the same time, infrastructures embody huge volumes of non-renewable resources and the efficient use and management of these resources is therefore more than important. Research and innovations play a significant role in the responsible attitude to planning. We have to search for new technical and management approaches that will allow for savings of raw materials and energy, as well as for solutions that are smart, durable, friendly to the environment and cost-efficient in long-term prospects.

The intention of the BESTInfra 2017 international conference is to enable the transfer of the latest ideas regarding the transport infrastructure design, construction, operation and maintenance between the industrial, public and academic sector, between various specializations and across countries. By bringing together experts from various fields, the organizers would like to contribute to the implementation of the “Building Up Infrastructure Networks of a Sustainable Europe” initiative of the European Construction Technology Platform.

It is a great pleasure for me to invite you to BESTInfra 2017!
